“Safe Love =”
Bradley’s first letter home to his parents in Towanda, PA, after the Sept. 7, 1941, attack on Pearl Harbor.
12 December 1941
Dear Mom & Pop
I am OK, and doing fine. There is little to say about the recent events. Do not believe all that you read and nothing of what you hear.
Donald Brennan is OK also, so if this should reach you before his word, kindly notify his relatives, Bill Brennan, especially. I saw Blake Sunday Nite so he is still around.
Everything is under control, so do not worry too much. I know you will worry some, but I am convinced at last, that this is what might be called the good fight, though it does sound corny. Morale has skyrocketed upward, which is an excellent sign. In short, people, we’re in the old ball game.
My love to you all.
Your Son
Bradley F.
Here’s the actual letter he sent home five days after the attack.
